Gender and Women's Studies
Women's Studies provides both theoretical and practical perspectives on the functioning of gender in social life. The Women's Studies major at Berkeley offers students the opportunity to participate in the feminist critique of existing disciplines and to develop a new interdisciplinary study that recognizes the neglected contributions of women of various racial, ethnic, and class backgrounds to all societies. Feminist study also explores new alternatives for women and men in our society.
