Peace and Conflict Studies

The Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) major provides for systematic and interdisciplinary analyses of confrontation and cooperation among individuals, groups and nations. It addresses major issues of social injustice, poverty, ecological deterioration, and war as well as exploring the social, psychological, economic and political dimensions of conflict resolution. The program is designed to assist in exploration and development of an area of concentration.

Lower Division Requirements and Prerequisites for the Peace and Conflict Studies Major

(prerequisites indicated by asterisks)

  • PACS 10* (minimum grade of C required)
  • Two additional courses in the humanities or the social sciences. Specific courses available from the major.
  • Demonstrated proficiency equivalent to four college-level semesters in a single modern foreign language.
