L&S MAJORS |
|||||
The Department of History offers a program ranging widely over the historical record of human experience. The chronological, geographical and topical range affords great flexibility to students. Berkeley historians teach in different formats, from lectures in the upper and lower divisions to small, problem-oriented courses and research-oriented seminars. Within the structure of the major, students may select an emphasis defined geographically (Latin American, Middle East, Germany), chronologically (Ancient, Medieval, 20th Century), or topically (History of Religion, History of Science, Black History). Individual interests and needs will determine how students shape their programs. Many combinations are possible; to make the most of studying at Berkeley, students are welcome to seek the advice of the department faculty.
