L&S MAJORS

Is graduate school your goal? If it is - or even if it might be - it's not too early to plan how you're going to get there.

Economics

Economics studies the forces that determine prices and quantities in demand and supply for commodities and services. The study of individual markets is called micro-economics. The study of the economy as a whole is called macro-economics and is concerned with national income, employment, production, price levels, distribution, finance, and trade. Economic policy studies the intervention of governments ranging from regulatory activities in individual markets to general measures for stabilizing and steering the economy at large. The effects of alternative economic systems on the welfare of the population is a core concern in all branches of economics.
