East Asian Language and Cultures

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures offers majors in Chinese and Japanese. Students are trained in speaking, reading and writing in a selected modern language and study a variety of text focusing on historical and cultural context.

  • Chinese 1A*-1B*, 10A-10B, 7A* or 7B*

  • Japanese 1A*-1B*, 10A-10B, 7A* or 7B*

Note: All prerequisites for the Chinese and Japanese majors must be completed with a minimum letter grade of C in each.
