Development Studies

Development Studies is the systematic study of problems, processes and prospects of the developing areas of the world. The problems of development are urgent, massive, and enormously complex; they transcend the boundaries of conventional academic disciplines. To study developmental problems adequately requires an analysis that draws upon several disciplines and includes a balanced understanding of historical and contemporary perspectives. The study of development as social transformation further necessitates a blending of knowledge and perspectives from political science, economics, sociology, psychology, anthropology, geography, history, and sciences involving resources and the environment.
