Art

The curriculum in Art Practice is designed to teach students to think visually and to help students develop a creative intelligence through the disciplined practice of a visual art. The major provides technical and conceptual training in most traditional and new media: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, installation, performance, video, animation, sound, and in the emerging fields of programming, interactivity, and game design.

Lower Division Requirements for the Practice or Art Major

  • Art 8, 12
  • Two from the following: Art 13, 14, 16, 23
  • Three courses in History of Art (one may be lower division)
  • For Art Practice majors it is strongly recommended that Art 8 be taken before Art 10, 12, 13 and 14.
